Answer To The Question

By now, you have probably heard the latest news stories about the largest recall of beef where the slaughter house was under scrutiny because of allegations of cruelty to the animals. You may have eaten it, it may have been served to your children in school cafeterias. And people ask me why I don't eat meat? This exact situation is is just one of the the many reasons why I have chosen not to eat meat. It's not the fear of getting sick from the meat, it's how the animals are treated.
I know I'll never change the world, people will always eat meat. People will argue that God put animals on the earth for us to eat. But certainly God didn't put them on this earth to be abused before they are slaughtered. This kind of human behavior absolutely disgusts me. I know there's a surveillance video that the news has been showing in regards to this story and I cannot nor will I watch it.
I hope when people sit down to dinner tonight, they think about this ugly story before they dig into their juicy steak. Is it really worth it?

I agree that this was a horrible story. The workers and the company should be prosecuted. But I still like my meat. Makes me want to buy organic & free range.

This is profoundly sad.
These animals are defenseless. Prosecution? Oh, yeah but not before they get toyed with by a fork-lift for an hour or two.
These days I eat more chicken and fish anyway. Beef, on a rare occasion.
Faced with a choice of a nice steak or grilled salmon, I'll go with the salmon every time.
As far as one person changing the world, sometimes that's all it really takes.
Hope you're well, C

Read the book "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair. It's about the meat packing industry in the 1920's
