Metropolitan Coyote

This kind of stuff is what makes me really angry that people just cannot leave well enough alone.

This is a picture of Hal. Someone was kind enough to name him but the officials in Central Park just couldn't leave him be. I understand Coyotes are kinda scary, eat cats and probably dogs. But, I'm sure there are enough rats in Central Park that would have kept Hal happy for many years.

He was able to elude the park officials for quite a while, but they eventually got hold of him. They tagged him and sent him off to Long Island and were going to release him. But, he just wasn't going to have any of that. He died. It wasn't bad enough that the stress of being captured, having a muzzle put on and probably poked and prodded for hours was bad enough. Now they're going to try and figure out why he died by doing some kind of autopsy.

It's a very sad story. At least they didn't kill him right off the bat like they so often do when an animal is found out of it's element. Sure, we should find out more about the wildlife around us but once and while, just leave well enough alone.

You can read more about the story here.

Goodbye, little cousin.

And I'm not being a smart-ass. There's a reason my name is CoyoteMike

I used to dive in the Virginia Marine Science Museum, there were these two tame nurse sharks that would come and put their chin on your chest so you could pet them. The museum people were moving them to the new "shark tank" and had to put them in isolation for a few days, both died in isolation. It still makes me mad. They should have put them back when they saw the sharks weren't doing well in the isolation tank.

Coyote, I'd love to hear the story.
Mark, even sharks need love.

When humans encroach...perhaps someone needs to put reproductive limits on humans...
