Plaster Caster

In a previous post I mentioned that my sculpture class had the opportunity to display our "biomorphic" sculptures in a public building at school.

The sculptures are up and here they are:

The tallest sculpture in the photo on the right is mine.

These are the infamous apple sculptures from the beginning of the semester. The apple on the left was carved from a block of clay. The one in the middle required me to use a real apple and then create a mold into which I poured wet plaster to mold the shape of the apple. And the one on the right was carved from a block of plaster.

I wanted to also show you this piece done by another student at school. Not sure what class it was that required her to do this project but I think it is so creative. And, it's ginormous!!! Can you see what the flag is made of?

Is that flag made of paints?

The flag appears to be a whole boatload of bluejeans. Correct?
Sculpture, eh?
Are you a Renaissance woman or what?!

Looks like jeans and khakis.

And I also thought the apples were teeth. And that is probably the only time I'll ever use that sentence in my life.

The flag looks like it's made from the pants of all your nude class models...those poor souls ;)

While in class we all commented how much the apples looked like teeth, so no, y'all arent' losing it.

And yes, the flag is made from khaki's (which by the way is those things us use to start your car if you're from New England, right Michael?) and blue jeans.

Unfortunately Snot, there's no nude models in this class. Maybe next semester.
