It's a Family Affair

Today my family and I drove to the Allentown area to see some family. My sister and husband went just a bit further to pick our our Great Aunt. She's 101 years old. Just last year we had a party for her 100th birthday. She still cooks and goes to church every Sunday. She just had her first cataract surgery and was just at the dentist...no cavities...still her teeth! I can see a big difference in her mentally since last year. She asked several times what our names were, but it could have just been a bad day. She's the dearest woman, but has shown me that living to a ripe old age ain't what it's cracked up to be. She's lost her husband, her two daughters, and her nieces and nephews. I don't like her living arrangements nor how she's treated by family that lives with her. But, it's the only home she has known, there's no going anywhere else. But at least for today, she got out of the house and was able to visit with us and my other aunt. She lives in Bethlehem, PA, home of Moravian College, Bethlehem Musikfest, Bethlehem Steel and is the place to visit during the holidays!

My aunt lives with my cousin in Bethlehem. She recently broke her hip from falling off a ladder that no 86 year old should be on.

Anyway, it was a good day, always good to see family.

I'm 45 and think I feel my brain slipping already.
I plan on living forever though, so far, so good!

Personally, I'm looking forward to my senility. So are all the people who know me. Some seem to think they won't be able to tell the difference.
